Only five km off Malaysia’s east coast, Pulau Gemia is one of Terengganu’s lesser known offshore islands. Tiny Gemia is easy to miss out on a map, but it’s a beautiful place with lush greenery and white sands. It’s only a few hundred metres away from the more popular Pulau Kapas but it offers an entirely different holiday experience. There’s only one resort on Gemia, the Gemia Island Resort & Spa – a three-star venture. The boutique property’s seafront lodgings are unobtrusive and laid back; hotel facilities are limited but the on-site spa is well worth a visit.
